ACO Pride 2015: Looking Back… Moving Forward
Queer Mafia Presents: PRIDE Film Screening w/ Centretown Movies
Date: Friday, August 14 (8:30-11:30pm)
Location: Dundonald Park (Somerset & Bay)
Cost: FREE
PRIDE is inspired by an extraordinary true story. It’s the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike, prompting a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money to support the strikers’ families. Initially rebuffed by the Union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales and sets off to make their donation in person. As the strike drags on, the two groups discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all. (C) CBS

Location: Pressed (750 Gladstone)

During Pride Week festivities many of us love to party or know people who love to party. Come hang out with the lovely folks from QM & ACOs Safer Partying Outreach Team (SPOT) to discuss & explore some of the things you can do for safer partying.
Because partying can be fun & also safer.
This workshop takes a sex positive, drug positive, and harm reduction approach to partying. Let’s talk about the pre-drink, the party, the cutie that you brought home, and the comedown the next day. We welcome feedback and input, and we encourage participants to share information or stories based on their own experiences or knowledge.
Some topics this workshop will cover:
– Substance Awareness
– Harm Reduction
– Safer Substance Use
– Safer Sex
– Safer Planning
– Overdose Prevention
– How to Support a Friend
If you would like to collaborate, or if there are any specific topics that you would like included, contact Derek:
